Below is the working / user manual of the project GSM based Home security system
1) Turn on the power supply.
2) LCD will show the message as GSM BASED HOME SECURITY SYSTEMS
3) Then LCD will show the following messages:
3.1) Initialising Please Wait
3.2) SENDING POWERON SMS
3.3) POWERON SMS SENT SUCCESSFULLY
4) Then you will receive a Text SMS with the following contents

5) Then LCD will show the message as GSM BASED HOME SECURITY SYSTEMS
Now you can perform any of the following 4 operations
1) Temperature sensor testing / operation
- Take a hot soldering gun near to temperature sensor
- NOTE: Do not touch the solder gun to the sensor, you can take the solder gun very close to the sensor but don’t touch it to the sensor.
- Once a threshold level is reached, a buzzer will be turned on.
- Then LCD will display the following messages:
- TEMP. SENSOR. SENDING SMS
- SENSOR SMS SENT
- Then you will receive a Text SMS with following contents
- ALERT: Temperature Sensor has crossed threshold value. Please take immediate action.
2) LPG gas sensor testing / operation
- You have to use LPG gas sensor so as to test the LPG leakage.
- For this you have to take the project near Gas burner or Gas stove. But this is risky and sometimes it is not possible.
- So an alternative for this is to use a cigarette lighter.
- NOTE: You must take extreme precaution since the lighter flames can catch up fire.
- Procedure: Press and hold the switch/knob for lighter, this will turn on flame. Then blow air from mouth to turn off the flame.
- But while doing this keep on holding the switch / knob. By this way flames will be turned off but gas will still come out of lighter.
- Now you can take this lighter near to the LPG gas sensor in our project.
- Once a LPG gas threshold level is reached, a buzzer will be turned on.
- Then LCD will display following messages:
- LPG SENSOR SENDING SMS
- SENSOR SMS SENT
- Then you will receive a Text SMS with following contents
- ALERT: LPG Sensor has crossed threshold value. Please take immediate action.
3) Infrared sensor testing / operation
- To test this sensor, you have to take your hand or any object near to the IR sensor.
- By this way the IR rays coming out from tranmitter are reflected and fall on IR receiver.
- Thus object is detected and a buzzer will be turned on.
- Then LCD will display following messages:
- INFRARED SENSOR SENDING SMS
- SENSOR SMS SENT
- Then you will receive a Text SMS with following contents
- ALERT: Infrared Sensor has crossed threshold value. Please take immediate action.
