Description of the project:
We have seen much news of accidents caused due to drunk and drive. We have designed a GPS tracker and alcohol detector project to solve the said problem.
The basic functioning of the GPS tracker and alcohol detector project:
As shown in the video, the project is actuated by switching on the vehicle with the help of the ignition key. This actuates the working circuit and makes the entire unit in a vigilant mode. Alcohol detection is performed in by the alcohol sensor, the microcontroller, and the Analog to digital converter circuit. Thus there is never a situation when the system is in a sleep state.
In the GPS based drunk and drive detection project, the system activates an alarm once the level of alcohol is measured above a set threshold value. At the same time engine locking is done with the help of deactivating the Relay and DC motor. Also, it reads data from the GPS unit which gives the position of the vehicle to the microcontroller.
Then the microcontroller sends an SMS alert to the user’s mobile with the help of a GSM modem. The user can click on the link in the received SMS. The integration of the GPS tracker with Google Maps ensures that the position of the offender is given out on the maps readily. This ensures easy location and possible further action.
A detailed description of the Alcohol detector and GPS tracker project:
We have already seen SMS based Alcohol detector with engine locking system. However, this Advanced vehicle tracking with alcohol detection and engine locking has an additional feature of Vehicle tracking on Google Maps. And this project is one of the most important projects among all the Advanced GPS projects.
The need to have GPS based breath analyzers in vehicles:
There are a good number of reasons that are in favor of using breath analyzers in vehicles in everyday life. Most law enforcement authorities and agencies that deal with people and need to have sober personnel use breath analyzers to keep their employees on the right track.

Moreover, there are a lot of situations when people need to be reassured of their safety on the roads while hailing a third-party service provider like a taxi or a radio cab. Thus the need for a safety device as demonstrated in the project is felt by most people availing of such services.

- We can implement a smoke detector along with an alcohol detector.
Questions and answers about this project:
Question: Will it show the exact location on Google Maps? And what if the user does not have a smartphone with him?
Answer : Yes, the GPS vehicle tracker shows exact location of Vehicle on Google map. In case user does not have smartphone, user can open Google map on his/her laptop/desktop and enter co-ordinates given in the SMS. And thus can track the vehicle on Google map.
Does it give any information about the vehicle plate number?
No, it does not give any information about vehicle number. It just send sms to the owner of system that alcohol is detected in car.
where this kit is placed in a vehicle…what is the alcohol threshold range..when any abstract is placed above the kit(like large thickness abstracts ) will it works or not..
How we set the threshold value?
And in this project is there is any need of program or code?
Threshold value is set in the program. This program is downloaded in microcontroller.
