Description of the project:

We have used 4 sensors in GSM based Digital weather station. These sensors are Temperature, Light, Humidity, and Soil moisture sensor. Values of all these 4 sensors are sent to the user through SMS via a GSM modem. These values are also displayed on LCD display. SMS is sent after a particular time interval.

The 8051 microcontroller can not read input from an analog sensor. These 4 sensors are interfaced with an 8051 microcontroller through an Analog to Digital convertor. ADC converts the analog values to the respective digital value and sends them to the microcontroller. Then microcontroller displays these values on an LCD display.

Description in detail:

Various important blocks of the system are:

  1. Microcontroller: We have used an 89s51 microcontroller in the digital weather station project.
  2. GSM modem: GSM modem plays a very important role in this project, it sends weather information through an SMS.
  3. LCD Display: LCD display shows the values of all 4 sensors.
  4. Temperature sensor: We have used an LM35 temperature sensor to read the temperature of the surrounding environment.
  5. Light sensor: We have used a Light-dependent resistor (LDR) to monitor Light intensity in the digital weather stations.
  6. Humidity sensor
  7. ADC

Applications of GSM based Digital weather station project

  1. This project can be used in weather stations.
  2. This project can be used in forest areas to monitor changes in weather.

Advantages of GSM based Digital weather station

  1. SMS-based digital weather station project is easy to use and easy to install.

Future Development:

  1. We can add more sensors to this project.

sir , i want gps & gsm based data logging system weather station including temperature, humidity, wind flow , position light meter system in single kit.

    • Microtronics Technologies

Sorry, we don’t have wind flow sensor and position light meter system. You can select any 4 sensors available on our website for making data logger system.
