Description of the project:
The primary function of this system is to monitor the 3 health parameters of a patient. We have monitored the temperature, Humidity, and Heart Beat of the Patient. The Data collected by these sensors is sent to the Microcontroller. The Microcontroller then transmits the data to the user in the form of SMS. Here we are using the GSM modem in order to transmit the information. From the transmitter, the recordings of patient health parameters are sent as an SMS to the caretaker or the expert or a doctor which has been given as the recipient. Not only do we send the information through the GSM module as SMS, but we also display the readings on LCD. And when the conditions go abnormal then we sense those values and then alarm the people around by blowing the alarm and also sending by sending an urgency SMS.

The functioning of Heart Beat device is based on the truth that the blood circulates for every heartbeat that can be sensed by using a circuit formed by the combination of an LDR and LED. Depending upon the rate of circulation of blood the heart beat rate per minute is calculated. This calculated value is communicated to remote person through a GSM modem interfaced to it.
It mainly consists of following blocks:
1) Microcontroller based control unit with regulated power supply
2) Heart Beat Sensor
3) Temperature sensor
4) GSM Modem (sim900 unit)
5) LCD Display
6) Buzzer that beeps for critical conditions
Applications of “SMS based Patient health Monitoring using GSM modem” project:
1. This project can be used in home for patients or ill person or old person to monitor their health parameters.
2. Same project can be used in hospitals.
Advantages:
1. It is fully automated system and does not require any human attention.
2. Automatic alert system using a buzzer gives intimation to user.
3. GSM interfacing provides a feature of remote monitoring of patient health parameters
Future Development:
1. This project can be implemented using IOT – Internet of things. By doing this, we can send this data to the Internet. IOT based Patient health monitoring implemented using Arduino Uno is an advanced version of SMS based patient monitoring system.
2. We can add the module of voice alarm system to indicate parameters crossing the threshold value.

Question: Which type of GSM Modem you have used? Can we use Mobile instead of GSM modem?
Answer: We have used SIMCOM300 GSM modem. No, we can not replace GSM modem by Mobile in this project

Hi pardeep, we have sent project list to you. We have used heartbeat sensor made up of LDR and red LED. Details about that sensor are mentioned in the project report.
I need more info on 1245-Patient Monitoring system. Is this the same as 1615-Patient Monitoring through GSM modem but without GSM right ? One more thing , as there is no GSM on it can we use some sort of Alarm on it.
Yes, Both projects are same. In GSM project, we send SMS to the user. And in without GSM, we send data to computer. And yes, we can add Buzzer in both projects (with and without GSM)

Hi zainab saifuddin, we have not implemented any database in this project. And we have used 89s51 microcontroller in this project.

Hi Brenda, yes there are other medical parameter sensors like ECG sensor module, Blood pressure sensor and many other sensors. However we have interfaced only temperature and heartbeat sensor in this project.
